Security threats aren’t merely a matter of hiring an armed guard and locking doors any longer.With technology rapidly evolving and threats coming both domestically and from abroad, the field of security management is growing.

Security management is a term referring to the operation of organizations involved in the protection of retail assets, property and other valuables. This degree is a fairly specialized degree, but it can be used in many different types of industries. It will involve the study of physical and computer security and risk management. A degree in security management is generally considered a prerequisite for a security manager or security executive position. Hence, this degree has been framed in consultation with Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) keeping in mind the industry requirements. SPUP and CAPSI have signed a MoU and both institutions will collaborate for the internships and placements of students.

Students with bachelor's degrees in security management have a number of career opportunities after graduation, such as police officer, security consultant and private investigator. An undergraduate degree in security management might lead to employment in other positions, such as:

  • Risk assessor
  • Loss prevention officer
  • Police detective
  • Corrections official
  • Corporate security consultant

The course will comprise of multi-disciplinary subjects that are required for excelling in the field of security management including criminology, criminal investigation, management, etc. A major portion of the syllabus will include practical subjects like physical education, self-defense, fire-fighting, etc. Apart from the core subjects, the course will also include ability enhancement subjects like communication skills, personality development, foreign languages, information technology, etc. The course will also include field visits and internships which will help the students get direct exposure to the security organizations and industry.

Applicants who satisfy these criteria will eligible for an entrance test:

  1. The applicant may be XII pass in any discipline.
  2. The applicant should have minimum 55% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST/PH candidates)
